VPK / Free VPK

Offered for 4-year-olds and 5-year-olds

In Voluntary Pre Kindergarten, better known as “VPK”, we prepare your child for success in Kindergarten and elementary school.  The purpose of the VPK year is to give your child a soft start in a school-like environment where he or she can get used to the structure of a traditional classroom. In fact, research has shown that students who receive this early preparation, will later score higher on tests and have better social and behavioral skills.

Compared to preschool, or earlier programs, teachers in VPK operate with more structure, emphasizing routines that will resemble those in elementary school.

In VPK, your child will start learning the formal building blocks of reading, writing, and mathematics.  He or she will learn to regulate emotions and react to social situations.

We offer full day and half day VPK programs. Our standard half day program is free since Childcare of Brandon is an approved provider for Florida’s Free VPK program. Our full day program is available as an add on to the State of Florida sponsored program and provides additional time for your child to learn and develop, as well as a full day childcare solution for working families.
